Asked Questions . . .
South Florida Ride for Kids Home Page
Question: I registered on the website. Do I
need to register again later?
Answer: Yes. Website
registration is primarily intended to keep you informed on information
concerning the ride as well as help our taskforce insure that they have
sufficient chairs, food, drinks and shirts.
Question: What happens if it rains on the day
of the ride?
Answer: The show must go on. The police escorted ride will depart promptly at
the designated time rain or shine.
Question: I ride a scooter. Can I ride on
the ride?
Answer: Yes. Motorcycles and
scooters are welcome to join us. Non-motorcycle/scooters are not permitted to
ride on the route but may participate in all of the other events. While the
ride is non-expressway, the group may encounter speeds of up to 45 miles per
hour and any scooter unable to maintain this speed is discouraged from
participating in the ride.
Question: How can I volunteer to help out?
Answer: Volunteers can signup on
the website by registering. Volunteer assignments are made on a first come
first served basis. Volunteers who will be riding in the event are expected to
pay their registration fees.
Question: Where is the 2010 ride being
held?
Answer: The ride will be held at the Coral Springs SportsPlex.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: Registration costs
$35.00 per motorcycle. Event T-Shirts are available for a minimum $50.00
donation. Registration includes a light breakfast (donuts, bagels, coffee, and
juice) and a light lunch followed by the Celebration of Life program where
you will meet some of the local survivors that these events have helped.
Question: When should I arrive at the ride
location?
Answer: Registration is open from 8
AM and closes at 09:45 with the ride departing at 10:00 AM sharp, rain or
shine. You may arrive anytime within the registration window but understand
that the earlier you arrive, the closer to the front of the line you will be
placed. Please do not arrive prior to the opening of registration as our
volunteers will be busy setting up and therefore will be unable to check you in
early.
Question: When I arrive can I park
anywhere?
Answer: No. Volunteers will
direct you to the appropriate parking area and insure that you are properly
aligned to allow us to safely park as many motorcycles as possible. You will
depart in the same sequence as you arrived. VIPs, Patient Escorts and Highest
earning club will be directed to separate parking locations.
Question: What if I am arriving in a car?
Answer: Non motorcycle vehicles
are asked to park in a special designated parking area upon arrival.
Question: How long is the ride and is it
safe?
Answer: Safety is our number one
priority on the ride. We have teamed with the Broward Sheriffs Office who will
be escorting the ride to control traffic along with local law enforcement
officers from the various cities we will be passing through. The ride is
generally 40-45 miles in length and lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.
Question: What is the ride route?
Answer: While we never publish
the route in advance, rest assured that it will include areas for which South
Florida is famous for. Our 2010 ride will be completely different from our 2009
route.
Question: I do not ride a motorcycle. Can I
ride the route in my car?
Answer: Unfortunately, no. Only
motorcycles/scooters can join us on the ride because of safety concerns. If you
know of anyone who rides a motorcycle, please contact them and let them know
about our ride and they may allow you to join them as a passenger. Please ask
them (and you also) to register on our website (www.SFRideforKids.org) to help the task
force in sizing supplies for the event.
Question: How much money do you raise for
the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation?
Answer: Our 2009 ride had 400
motorcyclists and collected over $84,000. The task force has set a goal of
$100,000 for our 2010 ride. We need your help in letting your friends who ride
motorcycles know of our ride and ask them to register on our website and be an
active participant. Please remember that formal event registration is still
required on the day of the ride (Sunday February 14th, 2010).

or services for your ride?
Answer: YES. We accept all
